Hi everyone, my name's Cicero, the lead developer and founder of Hazordhu. This introduction is a little late, so I apologize.
I originally created Hazordhu as it is today about a year and a half ago. Long before that it was a demonstration to my Grandpa about what BYOND is like. some basic chat functions, login system, icons, and the like. The reason the icons sucked in the original Hazordhu was because of this. I didn't want to update them when I made the game official, so I just kept adding in more and more crappy icons.
My Gramps liked what he saw and asked me if I could make it do cool things like have little battles and such. Being inexperienced as a coder at this time, I had troubles making an NPC combat system, but eventually I got it. At this time I had begun making the demo into a single player RPG. It was really cool, with castles and forests, and even a crypt filled with zombies. There was a nifty leveling system as well as monster drops and equipment you could find in chests hidden away in little nooks and crannies. At this time I came up with the root of Hazordhu; Hardhu.
The project sat on my Grandpa's laptop for about a month before I transferred it over to my PC to keep working on it. I was playing Archipelago (the ORIGINAL building RPG) one day and got the idea to add building into Hardhu. Using a system called GECK I had a basic building system and began to realize what a commitment this project would be. After brainstorming names for awhile, I settled on Hazordhu (ha-zohr-DOO). After realizing my limits as a coder, I hired the first in a long line of Hazordhu programmers. The infamous Dustin. He made many amazing systems that helped make Hazordhu what it became. Without him (or any of my other coders) Hazordhu wouldn't have happened.
Hazordhu was released for public play about a year and a half ago, and it was an amazing hit. It shot to BYOND Rank 10, where it sat for about 3 days before falling to the high 30's and eventually to the low 100's. This was the cause of Dustin leaving without notice for a week and leaving behind a fatal bug in the server. After he came back and fixed the bug, Hazordhu stopped dropping, but didn't rise either.
Hazordhu reached a rut after Dustin left. I hired a new coder named SnipeDragon, which made Dustin mad at me. Dustin still had verbs from the work he'd done, it didn't feel right to take them away. He came in and banned us both from our own server. After coercing him to unban me I got back in and banned him. Snipe loaded Hazordhu with bugs from clashing codes with Dustin's, so the version became unstable. In response to his Ban, Dustin released the Hazordhu source to the public.
After this, Hazordhu went on the decline, with a buggy server. I asked people out of respect for me and my game not to rip Hazordhu, and they did. One game did emerge though, Hellonagol released a "Hazordhu Classic" version with my permission, and people enjoyed it. He continued production for awhile, but I haven't seen anything in a few months.
About the time he released Classic, I began the remake. I started over from scratch, with new systems and icons, and hired our newest programmer Kaiochao to help with the harder things. He's been an amazing help and we're blessed to have him with us.
That's Hazordhu in a minute. Now about me.
As I said I'm the founder and lead developer of Hazordhu. It's my imaginary world where everything is the way my ideal world would be. I'm the only iconer we have so far, and I do a good job at it (or so people say). I can be an ass at times, but usually I'm pretty nice. All I really want from the Hazordhu community is for them to enjoy the game and the people who play it.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, I look forward to seeing you all on the test server and release version soon to follow. _________________ F0lak

I know I've heard of something called GECK, but I can't remember. I searched it up on BYOND Developers and now I remember it's Spuzzum's item combo system . I've never really studied it at all, I've only looked at it while looking at Spuzzum(Jtgibson)'s other libraries and junk for my random, dead projects.
(So that's where "Mr. Handy" in the Classic source is from...) _________________ Kaiochao

I'm a pretty good writer hey? Maybe I should write like a Hazordhu Story focused around a character. Maybe the late Folchak Warcry? _________________ F0lak

Maybe the tale of how the Kingdom of Settal rose up and founded civilization in the savage and barbaric lands of Hazordhu? The massive Palace will forever be a monument to Settal and the rest of mankind. _________________ F0lak
